Composition 10 is a play of white and colour built from rhythm.
Sonia Delaunay was a Ukrainian-born French painter and one of the founders of Orphism, a movement that pushed abstraction into pure color relationships. She didn’t limit herself to canvas and brought modernism into textiles, fashion, book design, and interiors, changing how color lived in the world. Awarded the Grand Prix at the 1937 Paris Exposition and given a retrospective at the Louvre already during her lifetime, she secured a rare level of recognition.
Composition 10 is made with white Duchesse de Nemours peonies accented with blue oxypetalum to follow this principle with cool rhythmic accents.
Peonies are naturally available from March to June. Outside the season, they may be replaced with flowers of a similar character and quality. Due to daily market supply, the exact flower varieties in a composition may also change. Upon your request, we can always adjust the flower varieties or recreate the composition in a different colour palette. Please kindly note that all our compositions can be arranged as a bouquet, in a round box, or in a hand-made basket.
